How to Create Bootable Installation Media for Windows Server 2016
After you’ve downloaded the Windows Server 2016 .iso file, the next step is to create a bootable USB drive to perform the installation.
Note: Ensure your USB device has at least 16 GB of available space.
The recommended tool for this task is:
Rufus
- Download Rufus for free here.
- Scroll down to the Download section and select the latest version of Rufus.
- Insert the USB drive and launch the Rufus application.
- Click Select and locate the Windows Server 2016 .iso file you want to use.
- Then, click Start and wait while the bootable USB drive is created.
- Once the process is complete and the progress bar indicates Ready, click Close. Your bootable USB is now ready to install Windows Server 2016.
Note: When the Customize Windows Installation popup appears, choose the Disable Data Collection option and proceed.
