How to Switch Windows Server 2022 Standard to Datacenter?

Note: This method only applies for upgrading from Windows Server Standard to Windows Server Datacenter. Reverting from WS Datacenter to WS Standard is not feasible.
Note: Your documents, installed applications, and other files will remain intact during the upgrade. However, we advise creating a backup of your data in case of a power interruption or any other incident that could jeopardize your PC's data.

Follow these instructions:

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type CMD. The Command Prompt will appear. Right-click and select Run as administrator.
  2. In the command box, type the following: dism /online /set-edition:serverdatacenter /productkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /accepteula. Substitute the Xs with your product key and press Enter.
  3. Once the activation process completes, reboot the server and your Windows Server 2022 Datacenter will be ready to use.
