Upgrading from Windows 8 Home to Pro: Step-by-Step Guide

Reminder: Windows 8 lets you enhance from a basic edition to an advanced one for additional features.
Caution: Your files, programs, and documents will stay intact during the upgrade, but we advise you to back up your data in case of any issues like a power failure.

Proceed with these instructions:

  1. Access System Properties by right-clicking the This PC or Computer icon and selecting Properties.
  2. In the Windows Edition section, select Get more features with a new edition of Windows to access the Windows 8 upgrade assistant.
  3. Next, choose I already have a product key.
  4. Type the 25-character Windows 8 Pro product key and click Next.
  5. Agree to the licence terms and click Add features.
    6. Reminder: Save your work before clicking Add Features, as your PC will restart at least once during the upgrade.
  6. After the upgrade finishes, you will see the message Thanks, you're all done and your PC is ready to go. You have successfully upgraded to Windows 8 Pro.
